Mala

Mala, also known as Trishia Frulla (she/they), is a queer, FilAm artist, designer, and death doula whose multidisciplinary practice centers fiber as a site of memory, rupture, and repair. Rooted in somatic inquiry and diasporic experience, her work investigates how trauma lives in the body, and how tending to it can become an act of cultural remembrance and collective care. Working primarily with fiber, soft sculpture, and ritual process, Mala’s practice is deeply informed by her work as a death doula, supporting people through endings, transitions, legacy and meaning making.

Currently, Trishia is creating a comic informed by her work as a death doula that imagines a future where anger is a renewable resource sustaining bodies, land, and future generations.
